Electronics Design Engineer
Based in Cambridge
Objectives
Responsible for the design of electronic units, and the provision of support, for wireless
communications products, including microprocessor subsystems, network and telecommunications
interfaces.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Responsible for designing electronic systems and circuit boards, supporting current product,
and in due course supervising technicians.
Work closely with other Design Engineers to ensure a full comprehension of product concept,
electronic requirements, product development priorities and time scales.
Assemble all related documents and work progresses, and draft as necessary.
Undertake other wide-ranging design work outside of own area of expertise as required
including input to the design of the whole system.
Undertake basic mechanical design as necessary.
Determine and establish any necessary test specification, set up and run.
Ensure that all other records, specifications, and procedural instructions are properly
drafted and maintained in order to provide information to management and any other
interested party as required.

Education and Qualification
Essential
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or allied subject
Experience
Essential
- At least 5 years experience of designing high-speed digital electronic circuits
- Experience of basic Mechanical Design
- Experience of Technical Drafting, schematic-capture etc
- Experience of high speed PCB design and management of layout
Experience of a substantial proportion of the following:
- 32-bit microprocessor systems
- FPGAs, CPLDs
- Telecom interfaces – E1/T1, SDH/Sonet etc
- High-speed network interfaces – 1G Ethernet, ATM155 etc
- THigh-speed analog-digital and digital-analog interfaces
- THigh-speed clock and signal management including PCB design
- TPower subsystem design
- TDesign and test for EMC and immunity
- TDesign for manufacture and test
- TATE test equipment design
