Network Management Software Engineer
Based in Cambridge
Objectives
Develop bespoke network management systems. Manage the integration of these systems with
third-party network management systems and operational support systems.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Responsible for designing and developing essential network management functionality for
next generation wireless networking equipment
- Work closely with other engineers to ensure a full comprehension of product concept,
network management requirements, product development priorities and time scales
- Analyse commercial networking management and operational support products with a view to
integration of bespoke functionality
- Work with customers to establish particular network management and network deployment
requirements and feed these requirements into the development cycle
- Ensure that all other records, specifications, and procedural instructions are properly
drafted and maintained in order to provide information to management and any other
interested party as required

Education and Qualification
Essential
- 2:1 computer science or related degree
Experience
Essential
- 3/5 years relevant experience
- Strong programming skills including C, C++, scripting languages
- Unix experience (Linux, Solaris including networking)
- Good knowledge of Internet protocols TCP/IP, PPP, DHCP
- Good understanding of management protocols including SNMP, HTTP, TFTP, RADIUS
Desirable
- Windows 9x/NT/2k development experience
- Experience with network management frameworks particularly HP OpenView NNM
- Experience in the architectural design, implementation and deployment of large network
management systems
- Experience in interfacing network management to service management systems.
- Experience of service management systems including customer care, billing, fault
management.
