Test Engineer
Based in Cambridge
Objectives
Carry out full software test and verification of the VectaStar product range, as well as
assisting with Type Approval testing as required.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Test each new software release according to the level identified by prior discussion
with Engineering/Head of Test group
- Regression testing of software releases
- Identify bugs and feature enhancement as required, and accurately input them to the bug
tracking database (Trac)
- Liaise closely with the Engineering team to aid timely and accurate resolution of bugs
- Build and maintain test fixtures using components of the VectaStar system
- Record results based on commercially available test equipment and in house test
equipment and software.
- Assist with replication of customer affecting issues
- Assist with the setup and execution of Type Approval Testing (RF, EMC and Safety)

Education and Qualification
Essential
- HNC in IT/Telecomms/Electronics based subject
Desirable
- Degree in IT/Telecomms/Electronics based subject, ISEB, CCNA and above
Experience
Essential
- Knowledge of IP Based Networking
- Knowledge of UNIX (especially Linux) and Windows OS
Desirable
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and ATM networks
- Knowledge of E1, GSM and 3G networks
- Theoretical and practical experience with microwave radio systems and test equipment
- Practical electronics skills
- Electronics knowledge
- Knowledge of scripting in languages such as Python, Perl and JA
- Cisco Systems (IOS)
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
